Senior Judge Michael V. Franciosa

Senior Judge Michael V. Franciosa has served on the Northampton County Court of Common Pleas since January 4, 1970. He was elected to his first ten-year term in the November 1969 general election. He began a second ten-year term in January 1980, after a retention election by the voters. He served as an active Judge on the Court of Common Pleas for twenty years, retiring January 1, 1990. Approved for Senior Judge status upon his retirement, he continues duties as a Judge on an interim basis.

Judge Franciosa graduated from Easton Area High School and from the University of Maryland in 1953, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He was awarded his Juris Doctor Degree in 1958 from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

He maintained a private law practice in Easton prior to his elevation as jurist and served as Assistant Solicitor for the City of Easton from 1960 to 1962. He was Solicitor for Easton from 1962-1967. From 1969-1970, he was a First Assistant District Attorney for Northampton County.

Judge Franciosa held membership and positions with several regional, civic and professional organizations. These included the American Arbitration Association, Kiwanis, Minsi Trail Council, Pennsylvania Conference of State Trial Judges, American Bar Association and the Exploring Division of the Boy Scouts of America.
