Judge Emil Giordano
Emiddio “Emil” Giordano was elected Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Northampton County on November 4, 2003. He was sworn into office on January 5, 2004. He presides over civil and criminal trials and is also assigned as the Associate Judge of Domestic Relations.

Judge Giordano is a graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School (1977), Moravian College (B.A. 1982) and Villanova Law School (J.D. 1985). He was admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1986 and in the State of New York in 1985.

In 1985, Judge Giordano began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Broome County District Attorney’s Office in Binghamton, New York. In 1987, he decided to return to the Lehigh Valley area and worked as an associate with the law firm of Holland, Taylor and Sorrentino of Bethlehem until 1988. From 1988 until his election to the Bench, he maintained a private practice, with emphasis on civil, criminal, construction and municipal law. In 1990, he served as an Assistant Public Defender to the Lehigh County Public Defender’s Office and in 1994, he served as an Assistant Public Defender to the Northampton County Public Defender’s Office. Throughout his years of private practice, he served as Solicitor to the Boroughs of Northampton, North Catasauqua and Chapman, Moore Township, Hanover Township (Special Solicitor to Curative Amendment) and Upper Mount Bethel Township Policeman’s Association. He has also served as Solicitor to non-profit organizations, such as Thunder Youth Hockey, Inc., the Landlord Association of Pennsylvania and Tri-Boro Sportsmen, Inc.

Judge Giordano is a member of the Pennsylvania Conference of State Trial Judges, the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Northampton County Bar Association. Judge Giordano presently lectures for the Social Science Department of DeSales University since the fall term of 2005 and previously lectured for the Sociology Department of Moravian College in the spring of 2005.

Judge Giordano has been the recipient of the following awards: Sons of Italy Annual Achievement Award - 2004; BECA High School Distinguished Graduate Award - 2005; and Lehigh Valley Crime Victims Council Allied Professional Award - 2005.

Judge Giordano is a youth baseball coach and serves on the Board of Directors of Lehigh Little League. He is also a member of the Hellertown Lions Club, the Lower Saucon Historical Society, the Sons of Italy and U.N.I.C.O. He is a lecturer for the Bethlehem Township Citizen’s Police Academy, the D.A.R.E. Program and the Minsi Trails Council - Boy Scouts of America. Emil and his wife, Tina, have two sons, Joseph and Caden and are members of the Notre Dame of Bethlehem Parish.
