Judge Paula A. Roscioli

Paula A. Roscioli was elected Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Northampton County on November 8, 2005, and was sworn into office on January 4, 2006. Judge Roscioli presides over civil and criminal trials and is also assigned as an Associate Judge of Domestic Relations.

Judge Roscioli graduated from Moravian Academy in 1983, Lafayette College in 1987 and the Dickinson School of law in 1990, where she was the recipient of the Abel Klaw Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy. She was admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1990.

From 1990 until her installation as Judge, Judge Roscioli worked alongside her father, Attorney Gene F. Roscioli, at Roscioli Law Offices. In her private practice, Judge Roscioli handled hundreds of civil matters including real estate transactions, business transactions, administration of estates, personal injury cases, divorces, custody cases and support cases. Judge Roscioli also served as a hearing officer for the Northampton County Housing Authority.

In 1992, Judge Roscioli was asked by District Attorney John Morganelli to join the District Attorney’s Office. Judge Roscioli accepted the offer and began her duties as an Assistant district Attorney and Captain of the Upper District Team. In 1998, District Attorney John Morganelli appointed Judge Roscioli First Deputy District Attorney, a position she held until her ascension to the bench. She was the first woman in Northampton County to be named to that position. While a member of the District Attorney’s staff, Judge Roscioli served as the Chief Violent Crimes Prosecutor. Throughout her career with the Northampton County District Attorney’s office, Judge Roscioli prosecuted more than 1,000 adult and juvenile cases including homicide and other violent crimes, sexual assault, child abuse, homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence and domestic violence.

Throughout her legal career, Judge Roscioli has remained active in numerous associations. She was a member of the Pennsylvania District Attorney’s Association, Northampton County Drug and Alcohol Commission, Criminal Justice Curriculum Committee at Northampton Community College, Creative Kids Club Board of Directors, Sons of Italy, Moravian Academy Board of Trustees, Moravian Academy Alumni Board, past president, and American Inns of court, past president of the Clinton Budd Palmer Chapter. Judge Roscioli is also a member of the Northampton County Bar Association and was elected to serve on its Board of Governors in 2003.

Judge Roscioli resides in Bethlehem with her husband, Attorney Alan S. Battisti, and their two sons, Alex and Nicholas.
