COURT OF COMMON PLEAS, NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, PA
Co-Parenting Education Program

The Co-Parenting Education (COPE) Program, initiated in Northampton County in 1992, is aimed at reducing the negative impact of the divorce process on children, while helping parents remain sensitive to the children’s needs. Marilyn Davenport, ACSW, LSW, meets with parents involved in custody litigation to educate them about the impact of divorce on their children. She presents a 90-minute program one evening per month to individuals referred to COPE through the Northampton County Court process. The program is sustained through a $15.00 fee that is paid by the individual participant, with eight to thirty-one participants attending each class. This program has been well received by the participants as substantiated through program evaluations, which are completed at the end of the program.
