COURT OF COMMON PLEAS, NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, PA
Court Expansion Planning

County Court construction has moved into its final phase, which included renovation of several areas contained in the 1860 structure.  The last segment of construction included the creation of a new jury assembly area, rehabilitation of the existing law library, replacement of ceilings, in addition to painting and carpeting of courtrooms 2 and 3, modifications to all existing bathrooms to meet ADA regulations and construction of a new cafeteria that was established in a former courtroom.  The progression of the project was hampered by asbestos removal, extremely difficult site conditions, and unanticipated material delivery delays.  Despite challenging, difficult conditions that required daily alternation of several court activities, the project came together.  Alvin H. Butz superintendent, Ed Whitsett, coordinated the entire group of twenty-two contractors that regularly interfaced with County offices, who continued to serve the public.  As a “clerk of the works”, Ed was responsible to move the project forward, but was required to ensure the numerous County offices were able to continue to serve the Northampton County citizens.  Throughout the process, Mr. Whitsett exhibited dedication and enthusiasm that was recognized by the majority of employees within the government complex.

Ed... congratulations on a job well done.  We will miss your presence in the future.
