Induction Ceremonies
Judicial history was established when Northampton County received its eighth judge in January of 2006. Noting the extensive docket of asbestos cases and the increase in both family and criminal court cases, the Pennsylvania legislators approved Northampton County for an additional judge that was determined through the elective process. Acknowledging Judge Leonard Zito’s departure from his temporary assignment with the Court of Common Pleas, several attorneys campaigned for one of the two judicial openings that became available during 2006. Both Attorney Paula A. Roscioli and Attorney Anthony S. Beltrami secured first and second positions of the Democratic and Republican tickets during the primary election, virtually securing a seat on the Northampton County bench. The formal vote in the general election in November ratified the voters’ intentions with both Attorney Roscioli and Attorney Beltrami joining the Northampton County Court of Common Pleas. The Honorable Robert A. Freedberg, President Judge, informally swore in both jurists, but each of them scheduled a formal induction ceremony, permitting friends and family to share in this prestigious and historic event.
Judge Roscioli’s ceremony was held on January 4, 2006, with her husband, Alan and her two children, Alex and Nicholas taking part in the affair. Gene Roscioli, a distinguished Northampton County attorney, helped the new member of the Court get properly robed for her duties. Judge Roscioli formally thanked hundreds of supporters that attended the event and gave specific thanks to her mother and sisters for their support and help throughout her legal career. Judge Roscioli will aid the Court in virtually all judicial activities, in addition to receiving a special assignment in the Domestic Relations court. Judge Beltramia> had a similar ceremony on January 20, 2006, that included a standing room only crowd, with his wife, Gina and their four children, Mary, Anthony, Rocco and Nina participating in the administration of the oath. He thanked his father for “insisting he become a lawyer” and the support of his brothers, who also possess law degrees. Upon formally addressing the audience, Judge Beltrami joined the other members of the bench and began his judicial duties with a special assignment in the Juvenile Court. Those of us who work daily with members of the Court welcome both Judge Paula A. Roscioli and Judge Anthony S. Beltrami and wish continued success to the Court’s newly inducted jurists! | |
