OPENING FOR COURT-APPOINTED/CONFLICT COUNSEL (CRIMINAL)

The Court of Common Pleas of Northampton County is currently accepting applications for the contract position of Court-Appointed / Conflict Counsel.

Conflict Counsel provides legal representation to indigent criminal defendants when the Public Defender's Office is unable to represent a defendant due to a conflict of interest. Conflict Counsel Attorneys will be responsible for handling criminal cases assigned by the Court and providing competent, diligent legal representation in accordance with applicable laws and professional standards.

Conflict counsel is assigned to PCRA's, Criminal Cases and Juvenile Matters.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be a member in good standing of the Pennsylvania Bar.
• Must be knowledgeable in substantive criminal law.
• Must be familiar with the Pennsylvania Rules of Criminal Procedure, and Appellate Procedure.
• Must maintain the ability to effectively represent defendants in criminal matters assigned by the Court.

COMPENSATION
Compensation will be provided in accordance with the Court's established fee schedule. Additional compensation will be provided for attorneys with 801 certification.
