If you have a legal problem, but don't know a lawyer, the Attorney Referral & Information Service of the Northampton County Bar Association will help you find one. Please call 610-258-6333, briefly explain your problem, and an appointment will be made right away with a lawyer who is qualified to handle your particular problem. The fee of $40 for the first half hour consultation is used only to defray referral costs. The lawyer does not charge for the first half hour consultation.

The Public Defender's Office represents indigent people in criminal cases. i.e. misdemeanors, felonies, mental health hearings, juvenile court delinquency court hearings, protection from abuse contempt hearings (if incarcerated). A person must qualify for services by making application with the office and if qualified, an attorney is assigned to represent that person.
