Effective June 1, 2020, the Northampton County Court of Common Pleas will be open to the public. Social distancing guideline will be strictly enforced in all court facilities, and all court participants will be required to wear masks for entry into the courthouse and courtrooms.

Driving Under The Infulence

Those defendants charged with driving under the influence or traffic related offenses are arraigned similarly to those possessing other criminal offenses. However, subsequent to being advised of their pre-trial rights they are instructed to report to another courtroom where a member of the Court, assistant district attorney's, and probation officers will assess their eligibility to participate in the Accelerated Rehabilitated Disposition (ARD) or Alternative Sentencing Program (ASP) programs. Those defendants requesting a trial will be assigned a date, but will relinquish their ability to enter the ARD or ASP programs.
